Founder and Managing Partner
Wai San is a Founder and Managing Director of Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He has been responsible for the investment activity of the fund since its founding in 2011. Wai San is the chairman of portfolio companies AEM Holdings and Novoflex Pte. Ltd, and represents the fund on the boards of MFS and Luma Holdings. Wai San started his career as an R&D engineer with Motorola’s Cellular Infrastructure Group and subsequently joined management consultants AT Kearney in their High Technology practice group. Prior to founding Novo Tellus Capital Partners, Wai San was a Managing Director with Baring Private Equity Asia in their Silicon Valley and Singapore offices where he led investments in IT hardware, SaaS, semiconductor capital equipment, and industrials.
Wai San holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BS from Lehigh University. He was the former Chairman and President of the Singapore American Business Association in San Francisco
Investment Committee Chairman
Gareth has more than 35 years of experience as a senior corporate executive, advisor, and Board member. He is Founder and Executive Chairman of D5 Studio and Chairman and Managing Partner of GC3 & Associates, International, LLC. Gareth was Chairman and CEO of Star TV and Executive Director of the Board of Directors of News Corporation. Prior to Star TV, he was President of Hughes International, and prior to that he was President of McDonnell Douglas Pacific and Asia and Corporate Vice President with McDonnell Douglas.
Gareth has served as a Board member at Apple Computer, Palm Inc., Agile Software, and Direct TV as well as an Advisory Board member of Nike, Inc. He is a member of the Committee of 100 and was the first Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
Founder and Non-Executive Director
James is a Founder and Non-Executive Director of Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He is also Managing Director of ACT Group, a privately-held investment company started in the 1970s as an equity investor in the Singapore subsidiaries of various Japanese multinational corporations. Beginning in 1996, James built the Group’s Singapore real estate investment division with numerous award-winning developments.
James is also Vice Chairman of Tianjin Intertech Corporation, the first joint venture consulting company in China. Previously James was an Associate with A. T. Kearney and a Research Associate with Booz, Allen Hamilton. James holds a BS from MIT and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
