Founder and Managing Partner
Wai San is a Founder and Managing Director of Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He has led the investment activity of the fund since its founding in 2011. Wai San is the chairman of portfolio companies AEM Holdings and Novoflex Pte. Ltd, and represents the fund on the boards of MFS and Luma Holdings. Wai San started his career as an R&D engineer with Motorola’s Cellular Infrastructure Group and subsequently joined management consultants AT Kearney in their High Technology practice group. Prior to founding Novo Tellus Capital Partners, Wai San was a Managing Director with Baring Private Equity Asia in their Silicon Valley and Singapore offices where he led investments in IT hardware, SaaS, semiconductor capital equipment, and industrials.
Wai San holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BSEE from Lehigh University. He was the former Chairman and President of the Singapore American Business Association in San Francisco
Keith is a Partner with Novo Tellus Capital Partners. Keith was formerly a Principal investor with Francisco Partners, a leading global technology-focused private equity fund. For over a decade at Francisco Partners, Keith invested in global technology sectors including enterprise software, semiconductors, electronic manufacturing services, internet platforms, and optical communications.
Prior to Francisco Partners, Keith was an enterprise software product lead at Trilogy. He has held research roles at Stanford University in the field of semiconductor lasers, and at the Ministry of Defense of Singapore in the fields of artificial intelligence and operations research. Keith holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering degree from Stanford University, where he enrolled at age 16 and graduated winning the combined faculty Deans’ Award for Academic Achievement.
Irwin is an Operating Partner of Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He was previously Group CFO of UTAC Group where he was responsible for the corporate development, finance, treasury, legal, corporate communications and investor relations functions of the Group. Prior to UTAC, he was Head of Southeast Asia for Asiavest Partners where he was responsible for Asiavest’s investments in the region.
Irwin previously worked for Murray Johnstone Private Equity, Transpac Capital, Technomic Consultants and the Economic Development Board of Singapore.
He is a non-executive Independent Director of Lifebrandz Ltd and MS Holdings Limited, which are listed on the mainboard and Catalist of SGX, respectively.
Irwin holds an MSc in Management from University of London, Imperial College and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University.
Shawn is a Principal with Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He has over a decade of experience conducting investments in Precision Engineering, Logistics, Consumer Businesses and Healthcare. Shawn has engaged with companies at different stages of development including high-technology start-ups, small and medium enterprises as well as regional conglomerates.
In previous appointments, Mr Tan was Vice President of EDBI, the corporate investment arm of the Economic Development Board of Singapore and; Asia Pacific Head for Sharjah Asset Management, the Sovereign Wealth Fund for the Government of Sharjah, an Emirate of the United Arab Emirates; and Investment Director at Westcomb Financial Group, a corporate finance company which was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. Earlier in his career, Mr Tan was involved in the commercialisation and development of
technology enterprises at the Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR).
Mr Tan holds a Bachelor with Honours Degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Glasgow University, UK and a Masters Degree in Applied Finance from Adelaide University, Australia.
Austin is a Vice President with Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He joined Novo Tellus in 2012 and focuses on deal evaluation, execution and financings as well as portfolio company monitoring. Austin has contributed to the Fund’s investments in MFS Technology, Smartflex Technology and AEM Holdings, and has also co-developed market investment themes and studies in the Industrial Technology sector. Prior to joining Novo Tellus, Austin was with a Singapore-based multi-family office, where he was responsible for cross-asset investment research and trading for clients’ portfolios.
Austin holds a B. Eng. in Biomedical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, where he was an Ministry of Education—Government Linked Company Scholarship recipient.
Kin Wah has 40 years managing experience in world leading semiconductor enterprises.
Currently he is the Vice Chairman, Synesys Technologies Holding Pte Ltd,, Member of Supervisory Board , BESI BV Netherland and Member of Supervisory Board , AMS AG, Austria.
Kin Wah was formally the Managing Partner of Beijing Jianguang Asset Management Co. China, Vice Chairman of Ampleon B.V Netherland , Executive Vice President , Global Sales and Marketing of NXP Semiconductor Netherland ; the President and Chief Executive Officer of Qimonda AG, Munich, Germany and the Executive Vice President , Communication Group of Infineon Technology AG. Munich Germany.
He has also served as Non-executive Director and Chairman, Compensation Committee of RDA Microelectronic Inc. China and a Member of Supervisory Board, Azzurro Semiconductor AG, Dresden, Germany.
He has an Honors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and a Post graduate certified diploma in accounting and finance from ACCA, United Kingdom.
Sam is currently a Venture Partner with Novo Tellus Capital Partners. Previously, Sam was with Microsoft’s Business Development Group overseeing Bing, MSN, Skype and O365 strategic partnerships & investments across Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Microsoft, Sam held operational leadership roles with AT&T Wireless and Amazon in the United States, where he spearheaded the launch of several new products/services. He currently serves on the Board of BANSEA (Business Angel Network SEA) and is an active advisor to several technology companies.
Sam began his career in the financial services industry, having held roles with PwC’s advisory business and Lehman Brothers’ investment division, specializing in industrial and consumer companies.
Sam holds an MBA from The University of Chicago and a BSc from the University of Illinois. He is also a qualified CPA.
